My logo is a small picture worth a thousand words. If it engages you and evokes memories from your own kite flying days as a kid, then I don't need to write those thousand words, do I...
Look at us, you and me. We've grown up and we're still here flying kites. They take the form of business enterprises, investment strategies, intellectual pursuits, non-profit causes, efforts toward discovery, social influence or cultural contribution. In some way, we're all after personal growth of whatever kind we feel we need to get what we value most. This drive to better ourselves and hopefully increase our opportunities gives us the energy we need to get us through the sometimes difficult challenges of keeping our kites in the sky.
At First You Have to Make Your Own Wind
Whatever the color-shape-size of the kite, the thing I remember about kite flying is needing to run like heck with the kite in tow, trying to create enough fake wind until the kite could get high enough to catch some actual wind. When it does, you instantly slow your feet and you turn to see. And there's your kite up there wild and alive and begging to climb higher if you would only let out more string.
Right then a wave of joy and exhilaration hits you, and suddenly you feel high as your kite. And you're held there aloft in wonder until past dinnertime because a simple and way too fragile device has harnessed powers of nature for you and placed the controls in your very hands.
It never gets old, does it? If it's not too cliché, consider the notion that we transfer part of ourselves onto our kites. Like, "That's me up there. I'm flying!" The higher we go, the more successful we feel in comparison to our previous tries. ("Wow, those secret Ninja knots I put in the tail really ARE magic!")
Seek Updraft To Catch Perspective
On my way to work years ago I used to drive past a prime area for hang gliders. Some days there would be a dozen or more either in the air, on the hill top or climbing up for another go. This was right off the freeway and I think I almost caused an accident once or twice because...well, who wouldn't take their eyes off the road (repeatedly) to watch some guy in a sky blue hang glider soaring majestically a thousand feet just above the windshield? Sometimes I wished more strongly than what's good for my mental health to be up there too with those guys, navigating the updraft, finding the strongest flow to keep us aloft until we're too tired to continue safely. All the while catching the broader view and the higher perspective. And looking down on all the schmucks stuck bumper to bumper, thinking: "Oooh...better watch the road down there, buddy...."
